I don't see what it is wrong with whis idea. This is what I think, Google, Red Hat, AMD sponsor this idea to make computers affordable for a huge market to be explored. They are doing this for their interests but I see nothing wrong if this is going to be beneficial for everybody (not for Microsoft, Intel,..). PCs will be just like mobile phones. They are giving away for free or cheap prices so you subscribe with the phone company. Google is already making billions of dollars out of its advertizing programs. They will definitely make big money if they promote this new market. Google is willing to conquer the world. The laptops will be equipped with the Red Hat operating system so they can spread this open source software and end an everlasting Microsoft monopoly. They will be using the FireFox browser for the same reason. Google is promoting Firefox and il will most probably purchase it. The big G is also going to compete with Ebay by introducing a new money transfer system. AMD is losing a fierce war with Intel so it is sponsoring this approach to promote its chips sales.

This was introduced to make money guys, not from the computer sales but from the services it will generate. So there is nothing wrong with this, it is just another ingenuity from Google.
