Well, we can be mysterious without being quiet. Some people are talkative but they never even let you in (They say I sometimes am that kind of person...).

We can be quiet simply because we have nothing to say, or to add. Well, that can be a wise thing to do, but communication can make us intelligent too. It is just a matter of picking up the right audience.

Balance? Is being quietness a good enough criterion to evaluate balance? If we depart from that principle, we'll be in for a big disappointment. Let us pay a visit to any mental care unit and have a look at those dreamy-eyed or blank-eyed people who area considerable part of mental patients. They are usually quiet. But well, your question is general so let me get back to generalizing.

Yes, still waters usually run deep, simply because keeping emotions to oneself can end up suffocating it and that can have bad outcomes. But we can't give an exact answer to that question simply because some exaggeratively extrovert persons are unbalances and have nothing whatsoever to do with intelligence. The human nature is such a complex thing that you can never definitely say: "YES I KNOW THE ANSWER, I KNOW THE RULE" because there simply are no rules in that. You can't just look at a quiet person and say 'well! That's an intelligent buddy!' Extrovert persons are easier to evaluate but not necessarily easier to get to.

Personally, I'd say I prefer extrovert people. At least, with them, you know where you stand - not at a 100% rate - but they're usually clear enough (whatever mystery then can keep).

I think quiet ones are more balanced if their quietness is founded on aloofness. it has nothing to do with intelligence for that would mean on the other hand that extrovert people are stupid altogether.
in my opinion you have to differentiate between shy and timid people who are quiet because of that and people who stay quiet for they just don't wanna talk to common folks.

not every quietness is full of mystery, so still waters run deep is a cliché I would say.
some people say what they have to say whether you like to hear it or not and others just keep quite.
to be with an extrovert doesn't mean automatically that you know where you stand, they only are suggestive of sharing everything with you, I wouldn't be so sure about that.
