So you live in San Fran, that's really cool.

They drive their deathcruch car diamond limousines
They're not fantastic mother fuckas, they just play it on TV.
Stars of San Fran, stars of San Fran...

Were you born there, or you just moved in?
Tell us more about that town.

let me tell you php that racism is a worldwide problem.i can't really tell about racism all over usa but i can tell you about san francisco. here.people are not racist at all but they are very peaceful.the fact that i'm muslim and arabic didn't change anything. the real problem is us because we don't explain our religion and culture to other cultures

Re : members in USA, england, come and talk about life there :)

I completely agree with lost in the respect that, people out there are not inherently and necessarily racist. They just don’t know that much about our culture. Once you explain to them your beliefs, customs and the reasons behind they become more respectful and radically change they views on us.
My experience is slightly different, I’ve never been to the states but I lived in the UK. When we were studying British culture at Uni in Tunis, we were told that English people are cold, very narrow-minded and racist. But they are NOT! I really enjoyed living there. They were so eager to know about my culture, so curious about my religion and I actually enjoyed talking about it as they were so receptive and respectful. When we had some occasional staff dinners in the school I was teaching, their first concern was to buy halal meet, and I didn’t even ask for it (I was only planning to have salads! Lol).
It was also funny to notice that the racist people there were not necessarily the natives. In fact, the whole Asian community there (in Leeds) not only didn’t integrate (some of them do not even speak English, I mean at all) but was also very disrespectful and held very bad opinions about occidentals. As an instance: my students (Muslim Asians for the majority) were shocked to learn that my housemate was Spanish. They were like: ohh, she must be filthy, she eats pork, she must be disgusting to live with.. and I mean when you know that their age is only 14, you can guess that they just repeat what they hear at home. There are of course exceptions, and surely racist people, but thank God I didn’t come across any.
Last time I’ve been to London, a couple of months ago, there was a big racism scandal on a TV show: Celebrity Big Brother broadcasted on channel 4. One of the housemates, Jade (a very thick and stupid person) was all the time bullying a Bollywood actress. The whole country was upside down, and the British minister of foreign affairs had to go to India to apologise.
Anyways, living there was a great and enjoyable experience for me. I learned a lot about plenty of different cultures and I also learnt more about myself.

I'm glad to know that you agree with me so i want to add few things about this subject.First,i believe nobody on the face of the earth was born racist, so what makes someone racist? i believe the lack of knowledge about another culture make people have a misconception about it.the focus in these days is on the muslim cultures because of what's going on in this crazy world that's why the burden to prove the good aspects of our culture has fallen on today's unfortunate generation.I also believe that there is no such thing as arabic-muslim culture that can suit every single country in the wide muslim world,we might share the same religion and/or the language but you cannot define any culture by those two aspects only, there so many differences for example between the Maghreb and the middle east. As for me whenever i represent myself i would say first that i'm from tunisia, but don't get me wrong, i'm always proud to be muslim and arabic but i want to be more specific when i talk about my culture.i also don't wan't to talk about a country i've never been to.
