| Re : members in USA, england, come and talk about life there :) Well, I liked the discussion about racism and I liked what you said guys. Actually I recently moved in to Georgia and I think people are not racist at all. They're friendly and just very curious about Islam, about Tunisia, even about food there. They're certainly not happy about 09-11 (people kept talking about that during my stay in New York). But they're not happy either about what Bush did under the name of the so-called anti-terrorism action in Irak. Even yesterday, a friend of mine (who's a genetics professor) was saying that it was the biggest mistake US has ever made. So, let me tell you one thing: when I look at my students' faces every time I come to class is not racism nor rejection. I only see eagerness to learn about the Arabic language, my country's traditions and customs, ISLAM .. and every single info I might be ready to give them about what I keep calling "life beyond America". So, let's just keep giving people (whatever their origin is) the right image about Muslims, Arabs and Tunisians.

| Re : members in USA, england, come and talk about life there :) hi Anoushka, I've just been connected to this forum and i read your comment.I studied at great Britain as well, but i stil;lthink, that occidentals in general are not racist mainly when they are outside their coutry. In fact, pakistani and indian people, whoa re by the way expatriate, have this notion of racism. I worked with them and I know what I'm talking about. |

| Re : members in USA, england, come and talk about life there :) It's nice to banprejudice and stereotyped ideas LOST, because it seems to be like the different communities on earth are fighting to prove who's best and to do so, they have to crash the other. Racism is not something wee born with, but it's that rejectionthe other is dealing with without evenknowing you, because simply , they learnt it from their parents. As a tunisian woman living abroad, I struggle to prove myself and fight everyday to be accepted and estimated. |
